The average person spends a decent amount of time being indoors today – especially during the cold winter months. This makes the ability to control the luminous environments very important, to promote better health and well being in every corner of our lives. LEDs can be customized in terms of spectrum, brightness, directionality and general controllability, which make LEDs the flexible and holistic solution compared to traditional sources of light. LEDs are the favourable choice, if you want the ability to control the luminosity of your indoor environment. That control can appear to be more important than you might think, as the right lighting can make the bedroom gymnastics more attainable and have a direct impact on the male libido.
An Italian study from the University of Siena, led by professor Andrea Fagiolin, has on the basis of a physical experiment, concluded that bright quality light will enhance male performance in bed. The study was comprised of 38 men who had complained about spiralling sexual desire. The study was furthermore conducted during the cold winter months, as the level of testosterone in the northern hemisphere is in a drastic decline from November until April where it rises again. This is highly relevant, as the level of testosterone has a direct impact on the male libido and general sexual desire.
The group of 38 men was split up into two groups, participating in different variations of the same experiment. The first half of the group was treated with a light box, emitting a bright light. The second half of the group was exposed to an adapted light box that was wired to produce significantly less light, than what the first half was being exposed to. Each of the 38 men was exposed to their light source for an hour straight during the early morning hours, over the course of two weeks. The first half of the group, exposed to bright and unregulated light, showed a tripling in sexual satisfaction and desire, whereas the men who was exposed to the regulated light found that their libido remained depressed. The libido-restoring light box emitted light at ten times the intensity of traditional lighting sources. LED lamps and fixtures can be set-up to produce that amount of light, meaning that you can run your own little bedroom experiment, by installing dimmable LEDs in your home.
